I am quite sure while you or any average person starts planning their wedding or planning to give someone the perfect wedding gift the wishful idea of "if only I was rich enough" must have crossed your mind. Yes so much can be bought, improved or achieved if only we had more money. So why not look at the Wedding Gift Wish List of people who DO have all the money in the world and see if all you need to be happy in the world really is "more money" or is it money with "sense and sensibility".
So lets start with one of the most famous weddings of the 20th century that of Lady Diana and Prince Charles, one of the most expensive wedding gifts that they received was a £796,440.31 Diamond encrusted model boat, a mere bath time toy, but than maybe if you are Royalty you can get away with playing with such obnoxiously extravagant toys yet sadly money alone can never guarantee a happy ending to every fairytale.
While still on the topic of extravagant royalty, let’s not forget another couple from the same family but with more sense and creativity. Lady Sarah Furguson and Prince Andrew may have had the same tragic end to their marriage as the unlucky couple mentioned above, but lets give Prince Andrew the due credit for being more sensible and original by presenting his new wife with a wedding gift of Flying Lessons. A great way for a newly married couple to bond further by sharing similar interests and activities. Whether such high flying bonding will stand the test of gravity is another story.
However one royal marriage that is still going strong, is that of Lady Sophie and Prince Edward who famously requested a lot of cooking ware and crockery for their Wedding Gifts. Amongst some of the most eye popingly expensive items they registered for is a 26-piece fine bone china set for £13,580, coffee cups at £85 each, a solid silver teapot costing £9000, matching jugs worth £10,000 and a 26-piece coffee and tea service for an incredible £2,500. Seeing this and the state of their marriage I guess fine dining is the secret to a successful royal marriage.
Ok enough royals for the time being, now lets move on to media made celebrities and who better to start off with than the bursting with money Beckhams; the Shopaholics Beckhams wanted shopping vouchers as their Wedding Gifts and while preparing for England’s wedding of the century, they lovingly gifted each other with his and her diamond-studded jewelry. However You "the not so posh bride of the real world" can buy her "not so Beckham groom" a pair of classy cufflinks if you want and feel just as good-trust me!
But than there are those celebrities who’s choice of Wedding Gifts for their weddings have won them more than just each others hearts. One such couple is Stella McCartney and Alasdhair Willis. To cultivate their own personal forest in the grounds surrounding their £1.3 million Worcestershire country home, they asked guests to bring saplings of trees of their choice as wedding gifts. Now this is what I call a truly "Sensible" wedding gift.
So there you have it, wedding gifts of the ultra rich and famous . Some chose to be flashy while other won us over with their simplicity and originality, but end of the day the truth of the matter is "Its my party and I\\\'ll cry if I want too!"
