There are practices we perform in our daily lives, which may have started just as a simple piece of interest, but now has emerged into a trend or a tradition. When it comes to wedding reception ceremonies, one practice that is commonly found is sharing wedding favours, gifting your beloved friend and families with something nice and sweet. Although this trend has now been practiced simply worldwide, in almost every nation and country, we can see the differences in the kinds of gifts people go for.
When the idea of wedding favours came out in the first place, people used to mean giving something sweet to eat, like sugar cubes or chocolates. And now the whole pattern has broadened up, it has become more diverse, and sometimes matching with seasons. In the western world, it is often found with perfumes, music CD’s, candles, chocolates, etc. In the western world, it is mostly limited with different kinds of sweets, fruits, cakes, etc – mainly items that can be eaten. But what we can say, it is not up to what we are giving to the bride and groom, it is what makes the gifting practices seem sweet and warm at the same time. Some say it is unnecessary, but if an unnecessary thing is becoming a nice part of traditions, let us all say so be it!
